Description
Andrea has a whole series of images of locks she has posted. This is one I noticed while wandering around in Winnipeg last week. The odd thing is it is someone has put a chain around a steel lamp post. I'm not sure why they feel it needs to be locked down, it certainly isnt going anywhere, and if anyone had machinery strong enough to lift up this lamp post that is cemented into the ground, then the chain locking it in place is not likely to slow them down.

Certainly an odd spot for a lock. Great capture on this one. Very nice dedication for Andrea,Jim. Great job!! Love and Hugs..
Being the logical soul that I am, I'm surmising it was actually something else chained to the post, like a bicycle, and the chain just got left behind.... But it does make for an intersting image, and could pique the imagination as to what else could have been held prisoner by that lamp. : )
Excellent composition and capture! :) I would have to agree with LovelyPoetess on it's possible reason for being there.
Well spotted, maybe they just had a surplus of locks. LOL.
Really cool one Jim, and a nice dedi also. Apparently this lock has some purpose ;)
Excellent captured of the textures and dedication, great shot!
Well it surely isn't something one see's everyday that's for sure....better call scooby doo Jim...we have a mystery here needing solved....lol...
Very interesting and unique place for a lock and chain Great capture
Well, this is SO GREAT for Andrea. A special capture too, Jim!
Excellent capture superb work !!
cool.. I love Andrea's series
Extraordinary!! There doesn't seem to be enough slack for anything large to be fastened to it. Thankyou for thinking of me, Jim!
I think a cycle could have been chained there, I think the chain would pull up to a narrower part of the post :o)
Odd place, yes, but we humans often do odd things. Great shot! Love rusty colors.
