Neat photo, I can't believe how close you got to this little critter. I've got a friend who's mother managed to sneak up on one of these so close she reached out and tugged on it's tail! she said the squirrel was so scared it leaped over 20 feet straight up! Very cute little guy.

Well, I don't know about Washington squirrels, but Missouri (and Kansas) squirrels seem to have an attitude problem. The little buggers are always leaving acorns on my back porch - and they seem to know just where to put the damn things so I step on them. I think they're trying to kill me... Mine don't run, either.... They usually stand up and cuss at me before going into some kind of squirrel break-dance routine.... Anyway - cool shot of the little hoodlum, Mike! LOL!

He isn't in a hurry to run off. I guess you have already befriended him with a few peanuts!!! We have quite a few squirrels in our backyard flitting among the trees in the summer too. Although it is still too cold,still snowing today so the squirrels can't be seen yet. Great capture Mike.

LOL, he's laughing at you Mike, he's not afraid of you! Our squirrels don't run either. Not even with the dogs, they wait until they're sure the dogs are out, sometimes I'm afraid they're gonna be too slow and the dogs will get them! Love the capture of this little guy!
