Description
The Carnival Miracle’s 6x9 cylinder Wartsila 9L469 engines produced 83,628 horsepower (62.37mw). This turned a 4 blade fixed pitch, facing forward, 18.4 foot (5.6 meter) diameter propeller. I was surprised to find 4 spare propeller blades bolted to the bow deck of the ship. So here you see the individual blades and the wake that they create at 18 knots. Had to run down 8 decks to see the current stats, being displayed, in the ships lobby. Yes, they do have elevators aboard but the volume of food, being consumed by me, forced me to exercise at every opportunity. Keep in mind that it was downhill. HaHaHa! Photos taked February 12th.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments.
They are very much appreciated.

wow this is something to see
This is amazing, thank you for sharing your wonderful images!
~Very cool!~
I've heard of spare tires, but never spare props!! Great shots--and great way to work off that food!! lol
Nice pair of shots! Actually it has become very common to see a spare prop or several blades mounted on the fore deck. Often passengers can't see it anyway. Props can easily become damaged by large debris in the ocean (like partly submerged containers that have fallen off container ships; several thousand a year) and these days every day out of service is very costly so an extra 100 grand for a prop might look cheap. Also, many props are custom made for the application so getting an extra at the beginning is far cheaper than later.
Beautiful shots Dana but I wouldn't like to be the one to jump overboard to fix a new blade!!!
Objects of astonishing beauty!
Sign me up...there must be a cruise in our future:)
fabulous scene and interesting text!

Wow amazing photography Dana and interesting intro, loved the bit about the amount of food you consumed lol. Of course it is expected on such occassions! hugs Jane xx
