Description
Okay. So, because I've been completely inspired by many of my friends' gallery images lately, I'm determined to learn more about Poser & DAZ's lighting systems. As a photographer and having had a past life designing lights for theatre, light is one of my most favorite things to play with. But, as I've found out, things are done a bit differently inside 3D programs than they are in the "real" world. Anyways, playing with Colm's IDL Studio on this one. Not a really world-changing image, but just (as the title infers) an experiment to learn lighting a bit more.
Hope you guys enjoy!

Looks good! Lovely face and fantastic colors!
You and me both im also playing with this but not getting very far love what you did here superb work !!
Hmmmm... those IDL packs... I really haven't tried them... I stick with my tried and true IBL light sets...mainly because the bleached skin areas don't always occur... I'm not knocking the packs... just saying I haven't tried them. But... I do like the light distribution they give. Oh and the see trough shadows of her top... are superb!
I have always been told to take care of lighting and you are the expert on conventional lighting and know that you can take hours on lighting in a scene and just a couple of seconds to open and close the shutter! lol I think this work is very attractive indeed and if I had Poser 8 I would buy that IDL light set. Well done!
Very successfull experiment!
Wow, wonderful character and fantastic hair!!!
Wonderful character and windswept hair!! Great lighting too.
nice job on her, very beautiful done..
When I first started with Daz I found lights mystifing and troublesome. The are still trouble but definitley rewarding to the final render. I would say your experiment was quite successful.
Xcellent modeling work!
Beautiful image..love her hair!!
~Lights are fun! :) Great work here!~
Fantastic portrait my friend, superb lighting, fabulous expression!
Beautiful
Beautiful character and light! Perfect hair!
I also came to 3D from photography. Once you get the differences ironed out in your head then it's surprising how many techniques carry over. Fine looking render too
Beautiful image, very successful lighting experiment!
lovely work...if i can help with daz at all then feel free to ask away :-)
excellent character, beautiful
Wow, I love the soft white light in this image, and how it plays a perfect harmony with the soft flow of her hair. Your skills at setting up a photoshoot are well evident here. It is amazing how light plays such a strong role and how so many people spend so little time working it out. I go back and try to photoshop my old images but there is no way you can retrofit crappy lighting. The foundations of color depth and richness are largely locked in with the original light set.
BEAUTIFUL!
