Description
A couple weeks ago I posted an image entitled Cyan Abstract with Engine and Rod said, "This just screams Steampunk!"
He's right. The engine was from a 1913 Rumpler Taube Dove. The plane is a reproduction, but the engine is an original Mercedes D.IIIa.
I took Cyan Abstract and added layers ... mostly different parts of the plane ... until I had what you see now! (100% auntietk photography, btw.)
There's a lot of information on the plane at Boeing's The Museum of Flight website, and if you Google on Rumpler Taube Dove you'll find all sorts of interesting things, assuming you find those sorts of things to be interesting!

It's good to see some good ol' German engineering and your US collaboration for this collage - the overall arrangement is quite dynamic and has lots of appeal to me ... BTW the actual German word 'Taube' translated means 'Dove' - so it's a Rumpler Dove-Dove ... LOL great effort Tara, BB
Yeah great steam punk alright nice capture Tara!!
Great image!!
superb piece of imagery my friend
The original but original steam aircraft was built in my home town of Chard in the UK. It was unmanned and for more details search for John Stringfellow, you may be surprised!! Lovely shot Tara.
Fascinting image, Tara. Visually stimulating!
First thing came to my mind was the Wright Brothers. Nice capture. Aloha

Another wonderful mix and match piece...why does this remind me of quilting? Very creative:*
Thin cloth over thin wood latice with bicycle wheels. And that less than 100 years ago. And today we've been to the moon and fly faster than the human body can tolerate. My, how things have advanced in less than 100 years. Beautiful post work. Could be used at the museum! Keep up the good work! :-)
WOOOOOW, Tara! What a great composite you've put together here! Those old airplanes look soooo frail - you wonder how they ever got anyone to fly them.. Just amazing! And this definitely screams STEAMPUNK!! :-D Outstanding!
so much to view with the smiles that glow awesome, Tara May warm hugs, Linda Kaye
The wings of a dove... A very creative collage and result! Clive
