Please don't tell Coruanu about this. Not after the whole fire-chickens thing.
Ariolas, you have to understand, is not just a mage, he's the founder of an entire lineage, a school. Popping out in the morning on a whim to the courtyard, wearing nothing but a silk skirt and his hair, he thinks nothing of summoning a firebird just to watch its pretty flames as it swirls around overhead.
Taiev hear the Firebird screeching and pulled on his trousers to come out, and had to smile at the sheer delight on the Elf's face.
"It reminds me of you," the Elf said to his red-haired First. Which is why Taiev has a big goofy smile on his face: that was a sweet thing to say.
Hey, what good is being a mage if you can't have a little fun now and then? Ri let the bird fly away shortly there-after, but he smiled about it all day.
Production notes: My M4 Enhanced characters, with Echo skirt on the Elf and Remendado pants on the red-head; Stonemason's Village Courtyard (a corner thereof); Firebird from Songbird Remix; hair, way too much fun with flames, magic, and color tweaking done in post.
Taiev says he'd like to try to find a way to get Firebirds to heat water for coffee, but so far, no luck. They won't sit still long enough, and he refuses to run after them with a pot of half-boiled water.
