Description
This place would probably not pass an inspection by the Health Department in the United States, but this is not the United States, this is on Caye Caulker in Belize. Different standards, different atmosphere.
I am sitting in a swing type seat by the waters edge, in the shade of a palm tree and sipping a cool Bilikin (a local beer) while waiting to have fresh shrimp grilled outside and then served with fried rice and beans.
To keep myself occupied I am checking out my surroundings. The girl with her back to me has served me the beer and is good looking, the guy on the floor is doing some maintenance while listening to his tunes, the woman in the background is ringing something up on the register and the cook is outside preparing my shrimp. Next to me are a couple of women sipping a drink.
This place is flying a Texas flag and when I asked about it, they told me it was given to them. A wonderful, relaxing atmosphere.

@sharky. Thats right! The price was right and the food was excellent. I must have eaten more shrimp while in Belize than in the last five years.

sometimes you eat better in a place like this then in a 5 star shat-resto.
I usually don't eat out much, it costs too much and one never knows whats in the food. Eating home-cooked meals taste better, I know exactly whats in it, and I can determine the amount of what I eat more precisely. But when I travel I like to eat at small, family operated restaurants. Usually the food is better there, it is more authentic, and they usually have a much better atmosphere than big, pretentious dining places.
