Description
The Grey Heron is one of the largest birds you will see in the UK standing at 1m tall with a wingspan of 2m.
Grey Herons eat whatever they can catch: fish, amphibians, arthropods (insects, crustacea (crabs), and even small mammals (rodents), reptiles, small birds (catching these on the wing).
They are not above scavenging, and stealing prey caught by other birds. And ever adaptable will even follow tractors in the field to eat any unearthed worms!
Purple Heron has just bred for the first time in the UK so maybe we will see more colourful species in time.. Not many positive effects of global warming if this is indeed the cause..

Spectacular and very opportune shot my friend.....!!!!!!
Spot on timing Danny with the Heron just ready for take off. Not a fussy eater by any means but a true survivor.
