Description
I was at the beach last week and saw this man and his son having a wonderful time. The little boy was soaking wet, got knocked down by the waves over and over and simply laughed as he got up and tried again. His dad was right by his side, watching, helping his son if he needed it. And then, this happened. They stood side by side, hand in hand, looking out at the ocean.
Mark just posted a foto of the Chicago skyline and wrote a beautiful dedication for his father, who is very ill The moment I saw this foto, I knew it had to be for them. Maybe he and his father never went to the ocean, maybe their relationship was different, but no matter. THIS is what it's all about.
For you, Mark, and for your father.

A beautiful dedi, Marilyn...perfect!
Very beautiful image and dedication
Spectacular work! What a great father-son moment.
Poignancy to the Nth degree, Maz. Superlative color, clarity, reflections and silhouetting in this dedication to Mark during his trying moment.
I saw this last night, but was not entirely lucid. Well, I was, but maybe in a non-lucid sort of way, if this makes any sort of sense. Anyway, I saw this last night and I've just looked at it again...there's so much in this shot. It's deceptive because it looks simple and straightforward, but it's quite rich, complex, and really full of interesting, fun stuff. I love the textures, and the way this looks a bit like either a painting, or even something of a collage--sort of. But the best part is that it's just so darn good. I really love the mood of this and the whole sense of softness this has. It has your trademark sense of brilliant, living color, but it's soft and comforting and really inviting. This is a superb dedication, and a marvelous image.
very sweet warm hugs, Linda
A fantastic dedi to Mark and his Dad. A gorgeous capture, reflection, colors and postwork. Dana
This image is so poignant because it is often so rare. My father was absent during much of my childhood, off working two jobs. But the times we spent together are very special memories for me. I hope Mark's dad pulls through and that he has memories like this to sustain him. Wonderful post work.
Thank you so much, Marilyn, and forgive my coming here so late. You know the reasons had nothing to do with you or your beautiful image, it was hard to even get online for a minute, the last few weeks. This touched me deeply when I saw it first, and it touches me as much now. Because the father & son are so together, because their reflection sings in the water soaked sand behind them, because it's more of your beloved ocean (which you capture so beautifully), and because you postworked the image to make it both shine and feel like a painting. And of course because the image is all about love, reflected & radiated through the world around. It's beautiful, and fitting for this time in my father's life. Thank you so much, you touched me very much, thank you so much for thinking of me, Marilyn. I'm just sorry i couldn't get here sooner...
