Description
...caught while hiking last spring near the Straight of Juan de Fuca..entry way to Puget Sound.
...what do we have here?
...The Midnight Sun completed construction in April 2003 and entered Alaska service at that time. She is the first Orca Class vessel, a class of vessels built especially for the rigors of the Alaska trade.

Well caught Bill thats a big ship!!
wow, what a big ship!!! wonderful picture and landscape!
Massive looking and riding high. Perfect choice of name. The one time I took a Zodiak, out of Victoria, into the Strait of Juan de Fuca, we ran into a pod of 20 to 30 Orca. Scared the crap out of us. Dana
That is one sturdy lady! I love her blunt form, her obvious function and the sense of grace she imparts BECAUSE she's fit for her role. For me, that's the meaning of elegance and grace and I have to say that this blunt, stubby beauty is as graceful as they come...nothing useless here! She looks sturdy. She's all clean lines. Nice...really nice. Almost otherworldly too. This is a really fantastic shot.
Huge looking...great capture :-)
