Description
There are 8 Caryatids (see my last post) inside the Flagler College lobby The eight Caryatids shape the octagonal plan, of the Rotunda, that supports the 80 foot (73 meters) high domed ceiling. The students had hung some banners that I tried to shoot around but I failed in that endeavor. The frame is solid oak and if you zoom, there are 24 cherubs or cupids around the outer edge and they are not painted but carved three dimensional figures. There are 8 casques (armored helmets) with sails that signify the military and maritime achievements of Spain. Eagles surround the crown of the dome. Taken while laying on the tiled floor and asked to leave while trying to change to my 300mm lens. Keep in mind that this is a women’s college dorm.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments.
They are very much appreciated.

I just realized how similar the style of painting is to classic Roman, especially the figures...that and that thing looks really high!
very, very beautiful!!
That's some fancy ceiling. :) Excellent POV and capture!
Very nice!! Flagler Florida?
Great capture Dana! WOW! impressive! I'd hate to be the one that has to sweep away the cobwebs up there
An absolutely fabulous capture!!! I am glad they let you lay around long enough to get it! ~Beautiful!~
An absolutely brilliant capture Dana. Wonderful work up there.
Asked to leave? ridiculous!! Glad you got this one.

Lying on the floor :o) the things people will do to get a pic :o) What a superb ceiling, glad you captured it!!!
very beautiful
wow!! superlative POV and shot!
What a beautiful domed ceiling you have captured here, but I'm having a chuckle over you being asked to leave while you were on your back.
Super POV employed in this capture of the elegant and exquisite domed ceiling composition and patterns, Dana. Lots and lots of labor of love went into that. And surprised they asked you to leave just because you were lying on the floor. Not very neighborly.
very cool shot dana, really enjoy your work.
Talk about extravagance and elegance all rolled into one...they don't make 'em like this any more...or do they? I hope so. This is rich, this is so incredibly sensual...I mean, I can see it clearly enough, but there's an element that I can feel as well...a sense of space, of openness and I really like that. What really hits me in a good way is that sense of warm color...for as open as this image appears to me, it's very, very warm. Comfortable, even. It's those reds and ocher sorts of colors, and the detailing is amazing. WOW! WOW! WOW! This is really fantastic. Well seen.
Ah, yes! Another great shot made in typical Ninja style. I've been yelled at, asked to leave, threatened with and by the police, but all that doesn't matter if you get the shot and nail it. And you certianly succeeded on both counts here. This is GREAT! Your capture of the intricate detailing from such a distance and forced angle is phenominal! Wonderful work.
When living in Tucson, AZ one of my large accounts was the womens dorm at ASU. Whenever I was anywhere inside the building the mama son, as I called her(can't recall her actual title), had to be with me at all times. Somedays this was a good thing for those gals where not shy! :) Very nice shot of this intricate dome!
What a gorgeous shot Dana! I'm with Corey on your Ninja style - awesome! Great POV :)
COOL SHOT WATCH YOUR NECK ;-)
Superb capture Dana. I could just image you almost getting in trouble laying on the floor to take this picture. BTW, great new avatar. Sig..
