Description
The hare had bound off behind her, stiffened and went alert. The rat at her feet, had stopped its chattered conversation with her and it to went stiff. She had scented it to, that damnable beast. Her elfin ears twitched as she strained to drum out the wings of A nearby wasp, then she caught it the near imperceptible fall of paw pads on the trail. It would have sensed her as well, sending a warning of her presence to its master. She sent a mental warning to the hare, which bounded of to find its own safe spot. The rat needed no couching it scampered into a nearby hole in the rocks, and disappeared. The beast would move to gain a spot behind her, from which to launch an assault should the need arise. She would not see it, she knew, for was it not a chameleon hound? It had begun its deceptive camouflage the second it picked up her scent. Now she could smell the horse and rider. Not soon after the sound of huffs on the trail. Effrie stood up to greet the new arrival, who never altered her pace. “You I take it would be Summer of Hallow Greek?’ She stated. The new comer chuckled. “ You would be half right. The name is Summer, but I’m from Drummers Point, Northern Province.” Effrie smiled. “ Need not use that coy trickery with me. I know who you are and what you are, and what Master you serve.” Summer studied the half eleven female before her. “You would be Effrie, the lever of notes, well I have read it and am here by your instructions, and what business would you have with me and my trickerish ways?” She stated in a flat no nonsense voice.
“Now that the introductions are done, dismount and talk with me, the sun leaves us and there will be no more riding this evening.” Efferie stated, with a mocking half bow. Summer slowly dismounted. “ I have a tail one me, two men, they have been on my back trial ever sense I left town. They do not keep me insight, so they either are not tailing me, or know my destination.” Effrie smiled. “Need not concern yourself with them just yet. Call in your hound, and set, we need to talk.” she said. “ What is the conversation to be that I should care one way or the other?” Summer said, than gave a short whistle, summoning Tanith. The half elf grew sober. “We would speak of Kent.” she stated. Summer froze, she looked the woman in the eyes. “You know my brother?” She asked the threat in her voice was deliberate. “I do, for he is my husband of five years.” Effrie stated. “Wife?” summer said taking a seat on a near by stone.
