Description
The best views of Cedar Mountain are from the east end of the south rim, at the Desert View overlook. Cedar Mountain is 7,053 feet (2,150 m) above sea level. The Colorado River, in this area is about 2,402 feet (732 m) above sea level. This mountain is mostly shale and sandstones. The area beyond is mostly desert. Everything in this photo is on south side of the Grand Canyon. Photo taken spring 1996.

Sometimes I look at your photos and wish I could be a little elf living in your camera. You have shown us such beautiful places. It seems you are very well travelled.
An amazing place, love your capture of it.
Excellent capture.
Just a little off the top please. Rugged, rugged, rugged. Magnificent DOF, colors, deep contrasts, details and textures in this capture, Dana. The mountain in the distance could be called a mesa.
I've always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon. A great monument to the living power of nature.
