Lol, yeah, I've slept under a bridge or two in my time cough lol. Thanks, those are cool looking!
Well, I showed this picture of these bizarre things/nests to my hubby and his first thought was swallows...so he quickly looked up online and they are made by mud swallows. Very cool nests!! A lot of work!! He said if you Google mud swallows you will find pics of the colony of nests and birds on the edge of them.
Lol @ Madbat!! Awesome Birthday photo for him!! Excellent capture Jocko!! Very Interesting Subject Matter.
made by swallows. You find a lot of these in inside barns in the Midwest and Great Plains areas.
Wow...I wonder what made those....?????
nice image:)
Very interesting capture! Happy Birthday Shawn!
A fabulous gift . . . !
I've seen some of these under some bridges where I go walking, I wasn't quite sure what they were figured some type of birds home... Makes a great birthday gift for someone named madbat LOL.. Just thought about it I took a photo today of a bat box out along that same trail, I am going to have to post that for the Madbat soon.. haha
Strange looking nests! Cool shot, Jocko!
They could be made by the very rare MudBat (any relation?) Great capture, Jocko
Yep, it's swallows. Beautiful capture.
The Alien Movie (V is being made right now)
Swallows is the right -serious- answer
those are very neat!! never seen them before! great capture!
These are wonderful! At first I thought they might be insect hives--wasps or something...well...wasps, but when others said that they're swallows' nests, that made more sense, especially because they have those big openings. This is really well seen. I like it a lot. You have such a good eye for this sort of thing; and it's under a bridge, eh? That's even better! I really like this. I'd love to see more. Do you have any close ups? I just thought of a challenge...since you captured the nests, I wonder how easily you could capture the little feathered people who built those nest! Just a thought. I like this quite a lot. It's making a trip into my favorites.
Never seen anything like them before Jock and so glad someone said it was the work of mud swallows. Anyway great birthday dedi for Shawn
Very cool under-the-bridge capture, Jock. The mud nests/homes really look bizarre. And, I'm going to swallow my pride and admit I didn't know that these were built by swallows.
I'm very familiar with the swallow's nest. They are in huge colonies out here under the bridges over the river. They swoop down and skim the water in the evenings. Lovely capture.
Very cool find! Excellent capture! :)
swallows nest!! great capture!!
Smart birds. They know how to find shelter. Adobe huh? They must be from New Mexico.
Excellent capture Jocko interesting nests and glad some have ID them, thanks for sharing!
Very accurate picture of a bird shelter under a bridge, most of the time, these nests are found it seems to me in the big stall stables, attics, etc. ...
this is the place where all these mad bats live ??hehehehe. nice bday shot jocko.
Awesome find & capture Jock!
A most beautiful photo, Jocko. Well seen. Great swallow nests!!!
