Description
Hearst Castles tour #1 ends at the indoor Roman Pool. You are looking at about 20% of the actual pool area. The poolside lamps do not have glass globes, the globes are made from alabaster. This room is tiled with 500,000 hand set lapis lazuli & gold leaf tiles. The tiles cover everything from the bottom of the pool to the top of the walls and the faces of the cross support beams.
The photos in this series were taken in the mid 1980s with my trusty hand held Pentax film camera and recently scanned.

Absolutely love this pool! Almost as much as the Neptune Pool. The alabaster lamps, the gold tiles in the floor and pool and those beautiful statuary. A beautiful series, Dana! Thanks so much for sharing these beautiful shots with us all!
