A real stinker, yes, but they are very docile and make wonderful pets. Unfortunately, the stink gland regenerates after removal. It's this defenceless animal's only defence. And wow! does it ever work well - once "skunked", predators go insane trying to get rid of the stench! When 7 years old, my brother had a skunk which habitually followed him the 150 yards home from school. Mother did NOT like that! But apparently both my brother and the skunk did! He was never "stunk" by it. Very nice photo of the little fellow. Doesn't look like he feels threatened by you.

I'd never recommend one as a pet. They are wild creatures. Yes, they are not apt to attack - even they do not like to use their scent glands. This is a magnificent shot of this one. I am sort of a specialist in skunks after working closely with over 30 of them in a 5 year period. This looks to be a very health one and with a nice double stripe. It is very clean and nicely groomed so I wonder if it is someone's pet...

A cute lil fella But sure wouldn't want to get sprayed buy one Hubby accidently hit one a few wks ago on the paper route in the country Whew..........when he got home you could smell him and the car LOL Liked to have rid of the smell........ But the skunks are cuties until they do that number LOL Hugs Susan~
