Description
Yesterday I came across an unusual poser render by an aviation friend of mine Click here.
My photo above is of one of the last four or five P-82 'Twin Mustangs' in existance. While my photo from the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio is a bit cluttered, the rareness of the subject makes it worthwhile to add to my gallery and to pass on to those who are into these relics of a bygone era.
Here's the details for those who want to discover a little more: Click here

Thanks Bill, this plane looks good in the air, but it just doesn't look right with the gear down.As you say a very rare bird and saddly highly unlikely one will ever fly again. Thanks again.
It's a lovely shot, although I can't speak to anything about the plane itself! Beautiful shimmer on the body!
They sure have a great collection of planes, great capture!!!
Great capture Bill.
That is a beautiful little double plane. Awesome shot too, Bill :-)
thats a beauty
Wow! There we have the real thing! Very rare indeed! Thanks for posting this AND for the link to the air force museum page. I was fascinated to read about the non-stop flight across the US - must have taken a LONG time even at top speed (how did the pilots manage? No toilet on board!). The pitch and counter-rotating propellers are very clearly visible in this photo. Not much clearance to the ground. Nice feather in England's cap that the Merlin engines were used here, too. Who cares about the "cluttered" exhibitin hall - that's to be expected with a lot of planes in a confined space. :) What unique stuff will you fellows come up with next? With all the unique stuff you're posting, it's getting difficult to out-do yourselves! Keep up the good work! :-)
Great image!!
Thanks for the shot of this strangely wacky bird. A rare thing indeed.
Not cluttery ... it's the color of the walls ... Great shot of this unusual plane! Seems a bit overkill to me to have two cockpits. Since this style never caught on, the design engineers must have come to the same conclusion!
Great image Hugs Susan~
Amazing Bill. I love the way these places use available space by hanging some in the air. And don't laugh but I would kill to have one of those colourful propellers on my wall! Here is a bit more info HERE
TERRIFIC, AMAZING IMAGE!
Cool capture of a unique aircraft that I was well aware of back in the middle of the 20th century, Bill. Incidentally, the brother shown in my The Civil War - Musicians 2 posting is not the same one that forwards those neat videos to me, which in turn, I forward to you. He resides in New Mexico.
Who the heck flies this when there are two cockpits? Super shot of this most unique aircraft!!
stunning capture!
First one of these I've seen, very interesting Bill, Nice shot an find!!
Nice one, Bill! I wasn't aware that any of those were still in existance, let alone as pristine as this one is. Someone put a lot of work into restoring this beauty!
Sensational capture and vision!!!...an inspiration!!,have a super day!~Perry
Terrific work.
Bill these are great, love this shot.
Super work mate! I was looking and thinking of posting a 'twin' but left it to you... And, you found the beast! Outstanding! Rob
Marvelous shot! It's wonderful to preserve these planes.
now this is rare.would love to see in person
Fantastic capture and the plane were not clutter for but enhanced the photo. Dana
Great shot, Bill. This F-82 looks much better than the two I photographed!
