Clay water jars from Thailand
Homeowners in Thailand traditionally placed clay water jars at their front gates so that travellers might stop and have a drink. A clay jar with a lid keeps water cool and clean.
These jars were on display at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, a gift from a "sister zoo" in Thailand.

Lovely capture for a nice zoo gift!!!
What a wonderful custom! This a beautiful warm light and the composition is perfect.
nice capture and splendid lighting! :)
i love the up closeness of them...
This is a stunning capture and it highlights the essence of such pots. I love various customs from around the planet; my favorite being Buddhist monks wearing bells and rattlers so that as they walk through villages at night, they'd cause insects to scurry and thus not be trampled underfoot. Thoughtfulness and thoughtlessness...I love the connection between those things and these pots are perfectly captured. Funny, but they also look Agaran! Sort of...only a bit less clunky than old Agaran stuff which is--admittedly--rather clunky. Great work!
I was stationed in Udorn, Thailand during the Vietnam 'experience.' It took me a while to figure out what these little pots were for. I ended up asking our 'hose girl' and she told me about this custom. Beautiful capture of these lovely pots - so rich and warm. Perfect lighting!
A great shot and a nice custom, we do the same but the water is for dogs.
Wonderful capture! I didn't know about that custom, it sounds nice.
