A tail view of the Avro Shackleton MR.3 of the SAAF, a static display by the Air Force Museum at Ysterplaat.
Although the joke has been applied to several aircraft, the Shackleton has been described as "a hundred thousand rivets flying in close formation."

Yes, indeed! Among other name by members of the flight crews... lol Much loved, but deafeningly loud inside while flying it.. Only ever saw one flying once, and it was a sight to behold! Great shot.. Rob
Several older colleauges of mine when I was teaching had flown in these, and said it was like being in a bicuit tin having stones thrown at you continuously.
