Maybe the shadows look a bit hard, but I have seen it this way and love the sharp contrast.
I dis the surface as Rich said, with more smoothing.
But not for the purple and white because they are flowers.

Corrie, it is important that you always show us a design that pleases you. Then work your presentation, it is subject to personal taste ... everyone being in nature ... but do not apologize for how you treat the light, the shadows here rather likes it ... or do not like ... but it can not be considered a defect. I find your original textures and beautiful.

I'll echo claude19 just a little bit: what you show us should be about what pleases you, not what you think pleases the other rendo folks. This is good work, done with a tool that is a little unwieldy and difficult to master.
Ah - but it is technique that brings it together. Smoothing textures is one thing, but the coverage, thickness, roughness, altitude, and slope restraints... the list is not endless, but possibilities almost are. Most important is that you enjoy while you learn. Let me know, and I can send a couple files for you to explore.
