Description
Hello "Rendero people '
Today there are some "secrets" revealed. Because I finally completed my homepage, he, he!
Last Wednesday, I took many pictures of the Hornet.
There flew about 6 "wild-ones" through our backyard.
They did not sit still, and they make lots of noise. Sometimes you can be scared, when one unexpected flies near your ear.
And they are big. About 4 cm.
I was a little disappointed that I never got a good position. That is difficult because they are very shy.
But suddenly there was one nearby, and remained sitting on a leaf of a currant bush.
I was so close as I wanted. It was so nice, I had again met a new friend. I started talking to her, she stayed looking and listening at me, then she started washing herself, she also turned laps. And I kept shooting , he,he.
It took about 20 minutes.
So I had so many good shots of her. Therefore I made a collage. Here are of course parts of the photos fallen of.
But you can see enough, I guess.
Enough is enough!
And I end my (to) long story, by given you a bit more info about my new friend.:
Latin name: Vespa Cabro Germana.
English name: Hornet.
Dutch name: Hoornaar.
On the head you can clearly see three black dots: the Point-eyes.
They are also called ocelli.
With them they can observe, but less clearly seen than with their compound eyes.
Rest me to thank you again for your visit here, and for your nice words in your comments.
I appreciate it very much.
Now I'm gone. (but not away :D)

FANTASTIC COLLAGE....BEAUTY (BEE'O'THE) lol LOVE IT
Great collage Mies, and you are a lot braver than I am to get this close
I have never seen a hornet, so thankyou Mies. This is one super collage. He is one big beastie! I have not even seen a wasp this year, despite the remaining plums rotting on the tree after all the rain. We do have bees galore because all my garden flowers have been chosen to attract them. Those feeding on a big clump of chives close to the house have been almost drunk with overfeed!
Amazing looking insects, personally I wouldn't want to get that close, a bit too risque and dangerous...you are very brave, indeed ! Have read your 'new bio'...again you are a very brave fighter ! (apologies, for never gotten around to help - I would have - as you should know, but sometimes - time is of the essence !) Stay well and take care, thinking of you... BB
Beautiful collage Mies. These images are wonderful. i got bit by a wasp earlier a little over a month ago. It hurts like *#@&, but to be fair i was hiking in the woods and accidently got too close to a nest built in an old tree stump. The wasps were just protecting thier home from what they saw as a threat.
Fantastic collage of excellent shots. The details are fascinating. You are really brave to go as close to it.
amazing collagen !
