It was there, amid the flowers, The first pink, light pink, Fragile in its cousins. I was fascinated in view of the pit. A Rose unusual, Staring at me, Eyes open to the world. Great open were they. Seeming to consume everything, A child's face, Cheeks barely colored, Blossomed and isolated. Perhaps had I dreamed?
