Description
Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden.
Part of the Highline garden came about because an 81-year-old woman was being made to move by the Port of Seattle when they were expanding the airport runway system several years ago.
She got a pretty powerful bunch of people with her and told the Port she would make their lives difficult if they didn't move her garden. They saw the wisdom of her proposal, and provided a 200-member team to move all the plants in her garden to a new location. This dahlia was in her section of the gardens.
They also moved one of her neighbor's Japanese gardens to the site.
That's the story as it was told to us by the outgoing head volunteer gardener.

Beautiful capture with great composition Tara!
wonderful classe photo
WOW ! Even from that POV it is gorgeous. And you captured it perfectly.
Wow, the back of this flower is as pretty as the front. What a lovely shot, and a great story. I'm thankful the 81 year old lady stood her ground and won the battle. Hooray for little ol' ladies!
Mmm! that gives me an idea.... Wonderful title for this super shot.

That is a wonderful story. Sometimes the backside of a flower is as interesting as the front side.

You might have titled this, "...she showed them her back side!" A lovely dahlia with a unique outlook.

Great photo, like the title. The sepals are more interesting than the beautiful petals! I like to hear about people resisting the destruction often caused by the march of progress.
Unusual and very effective POV. Great photo.
Delicately backlit beauty, nice story too.
