Description
Lock-on and Pressure Testing.
Once again the use of the multiple remote mini-cameras mounted on the two robotic arms in the Orbital Shuttles payload bay, as well cameras mounted on the various surfaces of the
FS-1 Module and on all the new accommodation modules which were fitted to the station as part of Cocoons second test flight into space make the task of locating the new module into position on the ISS that much easier and do without, for the most part, the need for astronauts to have perform hazardous spacewalks.
It is only when payload manoeuvring of the most complex nature is required that astronauts will once again be required to make the lengthy journey from the relative internal safety of the ISS or one of NASAs spacecraft to the highly dangerous and complex external environment that is found in outer space.
Once the FS-1 is safely secured in place astronauts wearing pressure suits will now enter the new unit via airlock from inside the ISS to check it for structural integrity before pressurising it for use by the stations American contingent.
Exactly one week after the third successful test flight of the Cocoon, after reviewing all the data from the flight, the Aero-Space Certification Board grants Cocoon its Certificate of Aero-Space Worthiness allowing the Cocoon to go officially operational.
Here ends the next section.
