Description
The Nakamise-dōri is a street on the approach to the temple. It dates from the early 18th century when neighbors of Sensō-ji were granted permission to set up shops on the approach to the temple. While begging is prohibited in Japan an exception is made for Buddhist monks. They can still be found seeking alms to support themselves and the temple. This practice is called takuhatsu in Japan.

Wonderful capture and nice touch of history! Thanks
Beautiful composition, POV, and color! I like the way he is in darker tones than his surroundings. He seems both a part of his surroundings and apart from them. He travels through a world of commerce and possessions but is only tenuously connected to it. He has his bell and his bowl, and few other possessions. This image tells a story. I love pictures that do that! Excellent capture and information!
