Description
This photo was taken in Endicott Arm, Alaska. Amid a forest of trees and a pristine mountain expanse you'll find a steep waterway otherwise known as Endicott Arm. The "arm" pierces 30 miles into the Coast Mountain Range offering up some spectacular sights for cruise ship passengers. Floating with you in Endicott Arm are 3-story pieces of ice that have "calved" (split) from the glaciers that line the waterway. Some of those chunks of ice are as long as a city block; some are as small as an ice cube. Info from the 7blueseas.com web site.
Photo taken in the mid 1986 with a film camera and recently scanned.

very old, but wonderful photo!!
Beautiful. that's gotta be one cold-footed bird though
Very nice shot.
Cool capture!!
Very interesting Dana, perfectly done!
I think this eagle would rather be in my dead tree posting. Much warmer place to build a nest. What another great find. Aloha
Another odd find!! The houseboat looks warmer!
Outstanding shot. :)
very pretty shot !
bonne image!

That's a lifetime dream of mine, taking an Alaska cruise; and what a fantastic image this is!
You really have so many interesting pics, they are great!!!!
Very nice capture.
great to let us see these photo's. I would enhanced them to get it a bit cooler, but still, thanks! RS
just the tip of the ice shows. thebird i know is a big one. cool or is it called a cold shot here
I've heard of a cat on a hot tin roof, but never of an eagle on an iceberg, the bird hardly perceptible in this instance. That is one cool shot of a very rugged looking hunk of ice, and very deceptive looking as far as its actual size is concerned, Dana. If it weren't for the eagle for size relation, I'd say it was only four or five feet across.
It almost looks tropical until you realize it's an iceberg. Great info and wonderful shot.
Excellent capture!
STUNNING SHOT
