Description

(Bug Comic) Follows "There are Bats in this Cave!" As Rain expected, his boots came unstuck as soon as he tried to move his feet, and he ended up in the water of the cave..or maybe bug soup would be a better way to describe it. The water is shallow enough to stand up in, (a good thing since Rain barely swims)and the bottom is firm. He looks up as Randy offers him the handle of his pitchfork and says, "Shouldn't you be pushing me back in? You look like a junior devil from Milton." Randy is perplexed for a minute, and then realizes that Rain is talking about the 19th century author who wrote "the big book with the pictures of the naked chicks in it." Though Randy has not read *any* of the words in Paradise Lost, he approves of naked chicks, even if they are the souls of the damned or whatever. He says to Rain "Only you would think of a dead writer dude when you are standing in bugshit." This makes Rain grin..(he *can* smile). He has realized that he really has killed all the bugs, and Leaf had safely stashed the Longbow on a bush, and Rain's shirt, wrapped around the gun, is still clean. In fact, until the summer before, when Rain had his "accident," he had been a pretty happy guy. But afterwards the vet (yes, the vet, Rain doesn't have a doctor, and I'll explain later)who stitched him up told Rain he most likely couldn't have any children, that Aer only lived to about 40 anyway ("Don't worry, you still have 20 good years left, it looks like."), and worst of all, that he had a big chunk of non-human dna the vet couldn't identify. Since the Aer were clones of some long-dead Russian or Finnish soldier, Rain can only think it must be some Azali thing. He tries not to think about it too much. ------ That nasty stuff in the water is Broken-angel's "Diseased Styles", that I put on a separate layer, merged it down to rasterize it on another layer, did an Edit/transform/distort to get it to lay in perspective on the water, and then used the Liquify filter on it to pull parts of it around. Those Styles are *amazingly* gross and fabulous:))

EEEWWWWW!! It's even nastier than I had dreamed possible. Excellent postwork on creating that sludge. I would never have dreamed of doing it with styles. Your attention to detail is stupendous as always!!!

Hm... Interesting details about Rain... But i hope, that the vet was wrong... Maybe, that he couldn't really recognize the real dimension of the azali experiments... Maybe - that the azali have desparately tried to save their race by backhybridization with other races... And Rain is eventually one of their best results... Nice image...

What a marvel. I love the text and the image. The image is tops, and that muck that serves as liquid is quite fascinating. A lotta work went into that! And well...given my interest in Slavic and Finnish cultures, it's good to see the DNA of one (or the other) infusing a rather interesting character. This is great work. Nice, mucky water too.

That's awesome, can really see the disgust in his expression. Well, I'd be disgusted if I fell in bug goo too!

Only you would care enough of details to bother making a reflection of the pitchfork in the bug guts. Like Lori I am curious of this accident.
