Description
(Bug Comic) Follows "There are Bats in this Cave!"
As Rain expected, his boots came unstuck as soon as he tried to move his feet, and he ended up in the water of the cave..or maybe bug soup would be a better way to describe it. The water is shallow enough to stand up in, (a good thing since Rain barely swims)and the bottom is firm. He looks up as Randy offers him the handle of his pitchfork and says, "Shouldn't you be pushing me back in? You look like a junior devil from Milton." Randy is perplexed for a minute, and then realizes that Rain is talking about the 19th century author who wrote "the big book with the pictures of the naked chicks in it." Though Randy has not read *any* of the words in Paradise Lost, he approves of naked chicks, even if they are the souls of the damned or whatever. He says to Rain "Only you would think of a dead writer dude when you are standing in bugshit." This makes Rain grin..(he *can* smile). He has realized that he really has killed all the bugs, and Leaf had safely stashed the Longbow on a bush, and Rain's shirt, wrapped around the gun, is still clean.
In fact, until the summer before, when Rain had his "accident," he had been a pretty happy guy. But afterwards the vet (yes, the vet, Rain doesn't have a doctor, and I'll explain later)who stitched him up told Rain he most likely couldn't have any children, that Aer only lived to about 40 anyway ("Don't worry, you still have 20 good years left, it looks like."), and worst of all, that he had a big chunk of non-human dna the vet couldn't identify. Since the Aer were clones of some long-dead Russian or Finnish soldier, Rain can only think it must be some Azali thing. He tries not to think about it too much.

That nasty stuff in the water is Broken-angel's "Diseased Styles", that I put on a separate layer, merged it down to rasterize it on another layer, did an Edit/transform/distort to get it to lay in perspective on the water, and then used the Liquify filter on it to pull parts of it around. Those Styles are *amazingly* gross and fabulous:))

Excellent, if dirty scene and interesting writing. Very well done, Lynn.
I didn't know there were junior devils in Paradise Lost. ;) Wow...lots of unsolved mysteries about Rain...non human dna, not able to have kids, and clone of a slavic soldier! I don't know how much fun it is painting grime and dirt, but hey, somebody's got to do it! Fabulous work!!!
aw the return of bug comics. so much enjoy this series hon. love the camera angle on this. superior render. at first i thought he got caught up in the bp thing..
Well worth the wait! Great story and render. The bug soup looks downright disgusting (as it should) otherwise, all's well that ends with Rain smiling!
Excellent work
Great job Lynn, I can't imagine the time you put into this to get all this detail
Im with eekdog.. that just looks downright disgusting! Excellent image, it shows you put a lot of work into this image!!!

Excellent ! Love the POV and details !
once again fantastic image, i love you style
Growing up on a farm I dealt with all kinds of 'nasty' shit, you did a fantastic job portraying that. Excellent work, I look forward to hearing more!
Oh...nasty!!! :)
Wow, good poo! I always like your camera angles. And the story too - you have a huge imagination.
Superb image, fine attention to details, the dirty effect is really gorgeous, disgusting....Yuch! Another very fine work my friend, congratulations!
Well done, Lynn.
Eeeew he fell in! lol And he's standing in that goo :( lol I hope you don't dream about those bugs at night, I shiver everytime you draw them and now the goo hehe Wonderful image again, I like how you pay attention to details, leaves in the hair, tears in the clothes :) I like the POV also. Great job all around again :)
Just wonderful! POV, details and that gorgeous... I mean stinking effect! Great work! Hug!
i had really been hoping that wouldn't happen. well, at least it wasn't deep muck. poor Rain! he's such a sweet, cute guy, even if he is kind of emo. and he killed all those horrible bugs! he's done some pretty great work, and so have you. those Diseased Styles look awful, but in the best possible way. the clothes are really good, too. i love the muck spattered on Rain. i mean, i empathize with him and want him to wash it off as soon as he can, but that's because it looks so cool. hope you're having a great weekend!
Excellent work and postwork!!!!!!!!
This is why I love your work so much. This one is a perfect showcase for your post painting talent. From the swirls in the water and bug soup, to the amazing curls in the hair, and even the blades of grass. This has all the elements of a fine painting. I do have one question though. How has Rain managed to survive all these years??? That guy is always into something. :)
Excellent image, so real you can almost smell it!!
Wow Lynn, this is so detailed, love that gobbly gook. I have no internet. A storm took our lines down and maybe won't get fixed till Tues. waaaaaaaaa I am on my son in laws.......
That is some serious nasty stuff you created for this picture - and it's yucky bug poo... Blah. Wonderful postwork and great posing. Entertaining and interesting story - I'm curious about the 'accident' that Rain had the summer before. Sounds like an interesting tale. Fun scene.
BLEEEAAAARGH! Hip deep in the bug dip! I can really think of better things to stand in than bug spoo! I think you owe him a pizza.
Terrific Image and Work
Nice POV on a well constructed scene Lynn. That brown muck really looks nasty too!
Poor Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool, another Bug Comic installment! Great job, as usual! An intriguing story line.
Excellent scene!
Oh, thank goodness- no drowning in bug poo...or whatever! That stuff DOES look nasty, so I suppose any close proximity would be a vile experience. Glad Rain's able to smile about some of it anyhoo! :o)
