Description
Airshow/Fly-In Arlington, Washington.
Here we have a father and son aerobatic team performing what they called a "Double Helix" maneuver. The son was barrel rolling his airplane to the right, while the father barrel rolled his airplane to the left...over and over and over...most impressive as they passed over the airfield together leaving a corkscrew smoke pattern after them.
The son is flying the red Yak 55 (left side of photo) while the father is flying the white Yak 18 (right side of photo).
There were a lot of aerobatics flown...we thought this duo was the best. More to come...
Bill:)

Courageous!
Wonderful capture and very impressive
Great shot Bill. A father and son doing a double helix!!! There's got to be a DNA joke in there somewhere!
I'm not even going to touch the whole Fibonacci rant I've been on for a while, but suffice it to say, there's a mathematical equation that defines this...probably right down to the colors! Mathematics is weird like that, and I'm not even a math guy. Ah, but I know a good picture when I see one, and this is a doozie of a good shot. I really love the smoke trails and the colors embedded in them. The planes themselves look almost organic! Nice! Very nice! I also like the fact that the planes are Yaks.
It muct have been difficul to capture this shot with a decent result, but you did it perfectly. Amasing that they even dare doing this :-)
Very clever stuff. A great shot.
You are brilliant to get shots like this..we have an airshow every year with the Red Arrows and I have given up even trying!
gorgeous photo!!
Fabulous shot Bill. Sooner them than me..
Excellent image. Fantatic!!!

very beautiful!!! fantastic capture!!
They are really pulling some G's there!!! Super photography!!!
Great shot Bill... No, really, this looks super against those fabulous clouds! Stunning.. and the flying is as well... Good one mate! Rob
Wow! Outstanding capture Bill!! :)
What an outstanding photo...!!!
What a fabulous capture, amazing!!!!
You've done the flyers justice in your capture. This must have been so thrilling to see up close and personal. Lucky you!!! : )
This is amazing Bill. You could almost be watching two insects flying. Even more so that it's a family experience.
WOW! That is one heck of a shot, Bill! Motion, and graceful action, wonderful colors and contrast. This one has it all! Awesome!!
Oh yeah--this rocks!! Wow, the colors and the whole dynamic of the foto is simply wonderful!!
Awesome composition and subject. The balance in the shot is excellent. Very visually appealing.
Marvelous image Bill! Nice catch!
Brilliant shot, we have one of the biggest air shows in the world this weekend at fairford unfortunately I can't get there this year!
Yeeeeee-haaa!! :P That was amazing to see. I wasn't even shooting, knowing I wouldn't get anything. Your years of experience with planes (and planes in the air) has really paid off! This is excellent work.
An outstanding image, well caught!! Did you use a tripod to take this one? Happy Sunday. are you missing the humidity yet LOL hugggsss
Wow! An amazing capture, Bill. Considering the moving planes your composition is like a fine art piece. Well done.
OUTSTANDING IMAGE! you enjoyed it famously, i bet!
And the smoke emanating from the aircraft could be the Holy Ghost/Spirit. Marvelous capture of the tenuous colors, patterns and textures in this difficult-to-get shot, Bill. The Czechs at the controls, I assume. Almost looks an abstract.
Wonderful shot; it looks as if you were up there with them! Well done you!
