Description
Captured 7/1/10, at the beautiful Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden on the beautiful campus of California State University Long Beach in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Better viewed full size.
Not only are visitors allowed to feed the koi, they are also encouraged to do so, and have provided a couple of food dispensers near the pond where you insert a coin, turn a lever, and out comes a big handful of tasty morsels to be used as a scrumptious snack for the colorful swimmers. The garden maintenance crew also feed the fish on a daily basis. They want the koi to grow up to be big and strong.

They are beautiful and so many! Great images! Thanks for sharing!
Sounds like a great arrangement, and what lovely pics it makes!
WOW!!! This is an awesome collage Harry. We have Koi near us in Florida but not in these numbers.
LOL, the feeding frenzy! They practically come out of the water when there's food to be had! Great captures in this collage, Harry!
They have such amazing colors. That's a LOT of Koi! Well done.
Soo cool then I really would LOVE to see this place...looks like these kids are really enjoying their feeding the hungry :-)
those kids is haveing fun. wonderful done
Oh sweet! I am wondering if they do not get overfed when it is very busy!!! Wonderful collage of the feeding frenzy of these colorful fish!
These are fabulous shots Harry! So bright and clear.. I love the bottom one which shows the 'man-eating shark' sized one attempting to eat the smaller of the children! lol. That's an impressive fish.. Great collage my friend. Rob
Great to see the children enjoying the pond and the fish. great captures. There sure are a lot of them.
Very interesting and fun captures, beautiful collage!
Lovely experience...feeding the fishes. Except when the Mafia tells you to pay up or you'll be feeding the fishes. But then they also give away concrete shoes...don't think I want any of those either. Thanks Harry for a couple of sharp, well photographed collages of your favorite Koi pond...mighty nice.
I like these even better than the last! Terrific composition and interaction in the first one. Looks like a big agitation happened a little left and top of center. Excellent effects of the light and ripples on the koi in number two. I love the vegetation in the top right corner of number three and the way one koi seems about ready to eat from the girls hand. It's a frenzy in number four! I like the small one going over the giant, and the light and ripples. I see one that looks like it's wearing lipstick. Beautiful clarity and color in all the images! Great shots!
Always fun to see the frenzy in the water. One day I will have a koi shot too, soon as I find a pond where they live.
a swirling bunch of koi in so different sizes and colors, a fine collage again, Harry!
