Description
The Conservatory at Volunteer Park (Seattle, Washington) was finished in 1912 and restored in the early 80s.
They say it was modeled after the Crystal Palace in London. !!! They must just be talking about the iron-and-glass construction method, because the size and shape of the Conservatory isn't much like the Crystal Palace at all. Oh well ... what do I know? I just looked at the pictures to see what they were talking about. (They being the Wiki article.)

The Photography Challenge in the Forum this month is White on White. I posted a color version of this same shot there. It's a fun challenge ... check it out if you're so inclined. A lot of wonderful stuff has been posted there!

Very elegant! A very well-chosen crop!
This is so stunning Tara! Thank you for "advertising" the Forum Challenge! I must learn how to do the link thing!!!
Wonderful shot!!
Excellent capture of this lovely and intricate detail; those spiral loopy bits are really great!
Wonderful capture, Tara. Love the details of this arch
A really super shot and I like the soft filter alot.
bonne photo!!
Superb shot!
I do like this! Very well done, Clive
Fanstastic photo
I was hoping you ganna put it into your gallery. Wonderful capture and specialy like the tad offset compo.
I can see where the inspiration came from. The part 'above the door' appears to be an almost direct copy. Very striking design and well captured.
Excellent composition on this, Tara! There's a lot to keep the eye engaged, and yet without being busy. Well done!
Lovely architecture, your photo serves it well. I can see the Crystal Palace influence in the structure of this classy conservatory. Love the detail, thanks for sharing with us.
Love the symmetry in this one Tara and also spotted it in the White on White Challenge. Dana
Lovely piece of architectural structure you have caught here Tara, wonderful..
fabulous construction. Excellent shot.
it also kind of reminds me of parts of te Conservatory of Flowers building in San Francisco. It's beautifully classic architecture!!
Interesting architectural detail so well captured. Thanks
What a beautiful Tara shot of this Victorian-style building with more than 3,000 plates of glass held in place by a marvelous wood and iron framework. Can you tell I wandered of to read your wiki article before writing this comment:) It is also a perfect white-on-white subject for this month's challenge...yup, I went off reviewing three pages there too. Is it any wonder that I can spend three hours commenting and get next to nothing done? LOL. Great presentation...
This is a very beautiful piece of work.. A credit to the craftsmen who built it and the restorers.. A fine shot indeed. Rob
This is superb! I love your above door and above window shots...as well as your other stuff, and I really must say that your postwork choices are quite exquisite here too! WOW! You've really captured the personality here...and because of a television show (now ended, but thankfully on DVD) I can say that the filter and the light have that nicely "alien sunlight" quality that tends to identify the planet Caprica and parts of Caprica City. Needless to say, I'd like that. Even more though, this is a good shot on its own, without mad SF TV references. Yeah, I like this a lot!
Cool looking...neat capture Tara
