Description
If you can walk faster than a snail on crutches, I'm sure you can walk faster than the lava ooze on flat ground. Probably your most dangerous areas are next to the ocean where the old bench is still fragile. Other than that, its trips and falls... And don't fall into the lava. Aloha and thank you for viewing

Great shot - looks as if it could be a dangerous place to be.
I'm sure the lava demons look at those crowds with relish....!!!
So interesting to see all those folk enjoying themselves!
fascinating how they dont mind the possible risk... super!
I must be the only one who thinks these people are nuts! I guess I'm just chicken. It reminds me of skating on thin ice! LOL ;P
excellent shot ... its very interesting
And how well does this cool lava stand up to all the foot traffic? Wonderful shot.
This is a great picture to give us a good overview of what it looks like from a distance. I like the brave little green plants that have survived that show us there is still life in spite of the lava.
Thanks for the tip, I'll try and avoid doing that. ;)
Crazy to mess with Pele' I wonder how many will be shipping back the lava they take home after all that bad luck:)
I think I would be afraid of thin crust !!!
I walked for a long ways on that lava, and even though it wasn't flowing at the time, I knew how fragile it was. And that things could change quickly---still I'd do it again anytime!!
interesting shot!!!!
I just think too much about sink holes... yep, if I had some friends and they wanted me out there, i just might have to be the photographer guy = lol - and not you, cause I've seen you get a little to close to things - lol
Most interesting shot! I would have to think twice about walking on that. But, curiosity killed the cat.
Sometime, I like to try photographing flowing lava. Great pic...
It's the spots with the thin crust that worry me! ;D Excellent capture!
outstanding shot Errol
Great shot my friend...(We got an Earthquake yesterday in here (North-East America) Watch this: In this unique time-lapse video created from thousands of individual frames,
I have seen this on TV, and am amazed at the brave souls who venture out into this area. Wonderful image. It's amazing how long this lava has flowed, and what it does.
A wonderful capture, dear Errol. Excellent work. Aloha. Diane. xx
Interesting shot! :)
It is simply an amazing view, but I am just not that darned crazy to put my life on the line to get up close and personal to way cool looking lava! I would just live with a shot with a long lens. Those who venture out have some amazing courage or are just plain nuts! Thank you for showing us this fabulous image!
Your photos impress me Errol, every time I drop by your gallery. Outstanding! Dana
I'd like to see these scenes live! Great capture, Errol! I find it much easier to approach the butterflies, that the lava incandescent !
Scary thought. Nice shot.
fantastic!
lol i missed this one with a lot of people walking on old lava. wonderful shot
Amazing scene....great shot..!!
are there children also? oh oh would never take children to this place! an impressive capture! ;o)
I've seen children out here as young as 2 years old. One father would carry his young 2 year old son on his shoulder which is very foolish in case he fell or tripped. I have taken my grandson on a 3 to 4 mile hike one way to see the skylight. He was about 12 years old at that time. See http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1253096&np
