Description
It has been dreadfully hot and humid for several weeks here and I have not spent much time outside. However, I did brave the heat a few times hoping to find some interesting subjects.
I was sitting in a shady spot watching this Carolina Saddlebag Dragonfly as he flew just out of camera range over open water. With no way to get closer, all I could do was watch and hope he would eventually perch closer to shore.
Alas, he seemed interested in this small patch of water plants and flotsam and he kept returning to it regularly. I had about given up on getting a shot but then I noticed this Bullfrog making its way closer and closer to the plant the Dragonfly kept returning to. I decided to watch a bit longer before escaping to the air conditioner.
It was pretty obvious that the frog was very interested in the same Dragonfly as I was but for different reasons, lol. I decided to try for a shot despite the fact that these critters were about 15’ - 20’ away from me. I was pleasantly surprised to get any shot that I felt was worth showing.
For those interested, the frog did manage to get a bit closer but the Dragonfly must have sensed the danger and he made a fortunate and timely choice to go elsewhere.

Valeva la pena di aspettare , il risultato è uno scatto molto piacevole! Io mi comporto in questo modo , una volta visto dove si posa la libellula , mi fermo e aspetto che sia leia a venire da me . In quel modo è molto disponibile alle foto e non fugge . This was worth the wait, the result is a very nice shot! I behave in this way, once seen where you lay the dragonfly, I stop and wait for her to come to me. That way is very helpful to the photos and did not flee.
What a great double catch....the frog and the dragonfly.....that would be a cracker title for a story book....I love it
