Description
Standing at the farthest viewpoint available these days at Snoqualmie Falls, we looked over the back edge and down at the pipes that carry water through Plant 2. The trail to the river is closed while they do construction, and the whole affair was surrounded by chain link fences and barbed wire.
Dennis looked over at the fencing and made a comment about how we'd probably see a shot in my gallery soon of half a barb.

I fooled him! Here's a WHOLE barb, a bit of wire, and part of a fence post, to boot! LOL!
It was really tempting to crop this down and only show you half the barb, but I was totally in love with that little nick in the wire over on the left, and I just couldn't cut out the screw assembly with its attendant shadow.
This sort of thing is where the Canon really shines. This is hand held, zoomed all the way to 560mm, and it's clear enough to see a nick in a piece of wire from a rather long way away.

Canon is wonderful. But it really shines in the right hands! I love this! The light, the detail and textures (on zoom just amazing), the dof and the shadow are excellent! Love your choice of crop!

LOL @ Bill...completely wired! I love it! And it's nicely sharp! That's done with zoom from a distance? NICE! My first camera was a little cheap Kodak point and shoot sort of thingie, with loads of features for something so small...and only 5 megapixels. All of the photographs I took in Prague and Dortmund were taken on that little beauty. I replaced it with a little Canon Power Shot A1000 (couldn't resist paying less than $100 for it after rebate) and it's proved quite as good as that surprising little Kodak now sleeping in eternal repose somewhere in Prague (or Brno, if Pavl still has it in his sock drawer.) Anyway, I'm rambling, but it's because I'm so impressed with this shot! Zoom from a long way away and you've got a nick! Yeah, that's Canon for you! And what details! Screw grooves and textures on the post! Yeah, this is nicely rich. Great light too! I'm all itchy and anxious to see night shots from this puppy. I'm sure you've got all sorts of nifty night time settings, and I'd love to see some of those. But yeah, as I ramble on and on (and on) about cameras left in Europe and newer cameras in Chicago, I'm really keen on seeing all sorts of stuff from your new photographic compatriot.

Well, as usual of late, I'm late to the party, so all the jokes about 'sharp' or 'pointed' are already taken LOL! Had to chukle at Bill's comment! But perhaps I'm still not too late - just in the 'nick' of time so to speak. See, I snuck one in.... This is actually quite delightful, Tara! I've been shooting my Canon Digital Rebel for several years, and used an EOS 650 before that - put miles of film (remember film?) through that camera. Anyway, great photo!
Barbed wire... one of my passions. I am fascinated by the history of it and by the collections I've seen. This is a fabulous shot.
Awesome shot...I have a picture of my daughter after she ran into a barbed wire fence...she had to have 10 stitches in her eye...she was very lucky...I would send it to you, but I would never put it up for others to see.
