Description
A few days ago Rob uploaded an image of a blue bellied roller (Coracias cyanogaster) that he photographed at the London zoo and for the first time ever I was able to identify something... LOL...
Rob - this one is for you - your roller's South African cousin!!!
Thank you for popping in and for your great support in comments and favs on my previous upload!
Stay well!
Hugs

Hah! Thanks to my visit to our zoo I also knew what this was, how unusual for me, LOL!! What a beauty, this was just out and about where you are, and not in a zoo? Lucky you!!!
Outstanding shot! What beautiful plumage.
WOW!!! This is a gorgeous capture of a gorgeous bird. I love the colors and details. Dana
Beautiful bird and an excellent capture!
OMG, if it weren't for the colours I would consider this little avian a miniature bald eagle. Cool photo of a bird I'd never heard of or had seen before prior to Rob's posting, Carin.
How fascinating! Birds are so different everywhere, and this is astonishing. So drab up top, and so brilliant underneath, and the head seems to be from quite a different sort of bird altogether. You know, that odd coloring can be camo, although I don't know if that's the case with this one. Looking down on the bird from above, it would blend in with the landscape. Looking up at it from below, it would blend with your brilliant South African sky. Interesting to think about, isn't it? Great capture!
AW! That is a strange looking bird, though very beautiful. It seeme like its head is way too big for its body and I could imagine it tilting forward while flying lol ! Such an excellent capture Carin :-)
Wow! Wonderful image! *****
You've really captured the compact body style and the colors are so bold!
And here is our feathered friend, in the wild.. So much better that way.. Brilliant shot and HUGE thanks for the Dedi.. :-) Take care.. Rob
