Description
A little over a year ago Carin (Meisiekind) posted a photograph of sand dunes in the Namib desert. I loved the stark beauty, the simplicity of the image. I tucked it away for future reference, thinking I'd like to paint it.

Superb adaptation of Carin's photo. Excellent modeling although the color and textures remind me of loaves of bread. Maybe I just need a sandwich.

Wonderful. And how much more I appreciate this scene now that I've seen how much time, attention and love you pour into one of your paintings. Your use of layers, the mixing of many colors and numerous tools (brushes, palate knife and more) surprised me...never having seen how a digital art program parallels a work in oils. REALLY well done.

I like this. I particularly like how it seems to be glowing and slightly supernatural. There's a strange skin and bone feeling you get in certian places where it almost seems that the environment is trying to speak to you. This looks like one of those places. Very nicely done!

This is fantastic and I did check out the original. The sand looks like it has been baked by the sun all day. Dana PS: I have read so many of your posting's narrative and comments on other postings that I can almost understand Africkaan - sometimes.
This is nicely stark; similar to the original, but distinct in so many ways. The sand does look baked, and the colors are nicely rich. Very great stuff, and it's funny because as I looked at this, the first thing that popped into my head was "Arrakis, Dune, desert planet" oft-repeated in Frank Herbert's magnum opus, Dune.
