Description

Here you see two columns of children facing each other on the battle field where the Battle of Hastings took place in 1066. They are obviously on a 'hands on' history lesson and from the battle cries they were emitting they were thoroughly enjoying the experience. What a way to learn!

Way cool! A very good way to learn. A good teacher can take a boring subject and make it dynamic and interesting. A bad one can take a great subject and ruin it (forever). What a shame!

This is a splendid image! Teaching has altered so much since I attended an all girls school. Awful place! History were lessons about how the 'ladies' of the great houses embroidered and very little else. Any education 'out in the field' has my vote. As does this enlightened image. ^=^

Such great image, also the history and intention of learning, now at school about that. Good shot, Jef, it fits very well to your avatar ;-)

This is the way to learn history. I have been an instructor at both our Armor (armour) School and at our Command and General Staff College. We called taking students out to battlefields, "Staff Rides". You get to study a battle before, then walk the ground, then recap learning experiences afterward. I'd love to do the same at Hastings. Super...

Great way to interest kids in history. Such a lovely, lush green meadow hard to believe people killed each other in such a beautiful place. Wonderful shot!!

I've been there and to the town of Battle! Poor Harold II, to be known for the name of the battle where you were killed. William the Bastard at least got to change his to William the Conqueror. What a wonderful way to learn history! My history classes in school were terrible. One teacher decided to teach from the Cold War backwards and over an entire school year got as far as the reasons for the Second World War. The last good history class I had other than college courses was in the seventh grade. In fact it was the only good history class... OK, I'm rambling. I love history and it is so often so poorly taught! Excellent image! I love seeing the children enjoying a history class!
