Description
I posted an image of the male of this species yesterday. This is the biggest of the Damselfly species in my area and maybe anywhere, lol.
They appear solid black until the sunlight hits them just right then they reflect brilliant colors of green and blue. The female is colored just like the male except for the white wing spots.
They fly a lot like Butterflies. They are very graceful as they flit form place to place - usually in heavily shaded areas. This one had just landed and was arranging her wings. With some good back light, I was able to capture the intricacies of her wing membranes.

Thea are such great looking little dragons. I tried to manage some shots of them 2 years before but they don't let me come close enough for a good shot. Really nicely done.
The jewelwing damsel is a favorite of mine. Love the effect of light and background on the wings in your photo. Excellent Lee!
