Nuclear Engines (4 views)
This is my redesign of the nuclear engines for the USS Shenandoah. The engines are design after the Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket (VASIMR) that NASA is currently working on.
As always, this is speculative and as I obtain more information, the design may change.
I hope to have the middle section with the Lander and support frame connecting the engine section and command module complete within a month. As with all, my design things take time to get it right.
These are my own designs so if it looks a little different from what NASA puts out it is intentional.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers,
David

Outstanding! You continue to amaze me. I love the realism, the very plausible design, absolutely gorgeous! I hope I live to see this ship fly, some day.
Excellently done David! :)
Fantastic modeling! Corrie
Most Xcellent presentation!
Great views! Again, excellent work on the engines and radiators. Question: if engines and fuel(?) and reactors(??) hang of the back, what occupies the rest (enclosed bit) of the Engine section?
Hey geirla, I do not understand your question. You said (if engines, fuel (?), and reactors (??) hang off the back, what occupies the rest (enclosed bit) of the Engine section?). The engine section contains the reactor core plus the fuel it needs to get from LEO to Mars than back to earth. The engine has a hatch door that allows someone to enter the emergency back up controls for the reactor but after you light, this puppy up I would not recommend using. I hope that I have answered your questions. Cheers, David
Really amazing modeling work David, very fine detail and realistic design.
When you mention designs that NASA is currently working on, can you provide any useful webpages to visit to learn more about such developments?
wonderful work!
