Description
Inside a room at Battery Kinzie.
A lot of what happened at coastal artillery installations was the moving of shells from one place to another. (Auntie's simplified version!) I'm guessing these wheels had something to do with that process.
The shells each weighed over 600 pounds, so it wasn't like somebody just came in and picked one up and wandered off with it!
If anybody knows more, feel free to speak up. I just liked this for the rich light. :)

The light and shadows and those military colors really grab my attention, as do those wheel thingies. I like your version of intricate military procedures as well...because when the deal goes down, it's basically all just moving stuff...or something. Rather like learning Latin only to discover that the interesting Latin names for things like internal organs translate to stuff like "Small squishy thing" and the like. As for those wheel-thingamajigs, well...I love the way the light falls on them and they'd make interesting set dressing in some strange drama involving men in uniforms, explosions, a love interest, and a briefcase...there's always a briefcase. And all of that is to say that I love this shot!

You have such a fantastic eye for striking compositions wherever you are. BRILLIANT!
This shows the inevitable creep of decay. You can see it in the background wall, the rusted metal and the worn window frame. I like how you captured what appears to be a ring stain from someone putting down a container on the window sill. Lends a very human touch.
