Description
The Chateau Frontenac was built on a cliff overlooking the Saint Lawrence River. Down in the lower city, it is a very busy place with ferry boats coming and going plus it is a major shipping port. The ground floors, of the buildings in the background, are shops, sidewalk cafes and restaurants. We spent a whole day down there. Jewelry shops seemed to be the big draw. To the right, were some of the oldest buildings in Quebec City and just beyond that, a Museum of Canadian Civilization.
Taken with my old Pentax film camera, in the late 1980s, and later scanned.

Wonderful capture! great information as well Thank you for sharing it with us, Dana
I love the POV here as well as the whole mass of visual interest that just pops and simmers throughout this picture. I love the massive stone presence as well as the openness of the sky and the fantastic light quality. The lighthouse is quite a surprising presence and the cannon is a nice touch, very European in a sense. The information you provided is quite intriguing as well...I'm familiar with the OTHER end of the Saint Lawrence Seaway...the bit that's quite a bit distant from the river itself, but a part of the seaway that links here with there. This is quite nice.
Another beautiful shot and I just LOVE the lighthouse there (and, hey, who can say 'no' to a conviently placed cannon here and there? Not me certainly!). Nice PoV on this one and wonderful history.
Wonderful shot Dana, another fantastic photo, amazing perspective!
Wow!
Fanatastic image, Dana. That is one beautiful structure.
Amazing composition getting all the elements in one pic! Wonderful work Dana! :)
Great view, the fact that your verticals are falling over seems to add interest to the picture, I love lighthouses this ones not the tallest I'v seen but looks good.
