Description
I've been thinking/dreaming about Hawaii again--it seems to be calling me. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of this flower, but I know someone who will tell me!! I also can't remember the name of the crater, but that same someone will tell me that as well!!

Is it Lehua and Hale Maumau? I am back......Nice shot. Aloha
Lovely! i'm sure you will go back!
Ohia Lehua?
Three comments and you have both... Great folks here on RR!! Wonderful shot Marilyn... Hope you get to go again soon! :)
I don't know the name of either but i do know this is a great capture my friend :)
I wonder who that someone is? I can hear the chants calling you back. A dream will come true soon I'm sure. The Ohi'a tree and the Lehua flower. Legends says that if you pick the Lehua flower, it will rain. That particular pit crater in the back of this tree is Halemaumau that lies within Kilauea crater and usually refered to as the home of Pele. Nice capture. Aloha
wonderful sehr schön einfach klaase
I read Sharky's comment:-) How cool that its referred to as Pele's home! I have never been to Hawaii but I sure understand the longing to go to such a lovely and interesting place...I feel the same about the forests and mountains in Washington state. Hope you get to go soon:-) Lovely capture Marilyn!
Seldom do I find florals around craters to be so attractive but Hawaii has some really special things happening there.
One trip at a time Marilyn:-))) Sharky must be that guy! Lovely picture.
wonderful shot
Capital clarity and light/shadow effects in this foto of a plant and crater that I don't know or remember anything about. I probably have pictures of the plant that were taken in one or more of the several biological gardens that I have visited.
WOW! I like this immensely. I have no idea what it is, but it's gorgeous! I suspect you could start a whole series of shots involving things growing in a Hawaiian crater! I love the rich colors and the way everything seems so riotously alive. I can only imagine how glorious it all must smell! This is superb. I wish Chicago had craters with things growing in them...well...we do, only they're potholes in parking lots, though a few of them are deep enough to become volcanic if they happen to erode down to a layer of magma...but somehow, that's a bit different than an authentic dead (or napping) volcano.
Beautiful capture Marilyn. Only two states left for - Hawaii and Idaho. Someday I guess. dana
