Description
Namibia 2010
On our last day on the beach, we witnessed how a pelican attacked a gull! I shot this image just before the pelican swallowed the victim! *straight face*
That is not entirely true but it does sound so much better than the real version of the story! LOL... We were simply feeding all the left over bait to the birds and the pelican and gull were going for the same piece! If you look carefully, you can see the bait (small fish) just in front of the gull! I just love how the image turned out!
Thank you for your kind comments and favs on my image "sand and Sea" that I posted yesterday!
Stay well!
Hugs, Carin xx

Well, That's a relief! I was just thinking..'GOSH' when I read to the end! Superb catch!!
LOL! That is such a funny sight! :D Excellent timing and capture!
Awesome action shot! Wow! What a mouth.
outstanding animal action! Love your interpretation of that suggestion. His beak could be big enough to swallow the sneaky gull! RS
Beautiful moment captured in action!
fantastic capture! :)
Lol oh that it were true! Gulls are hard to beat when it comes to skulduggery ! Great action shot Carin
Wow...that's a real action shot. Perfect timing. Superb!!
The right click at the right moment!!! Congratulations for being selected in LWiG for your photo "Captivating Namib" very well deserved !
This could be the beginning to one of those scary movies---"Attack Of The Killer Pelican"!!! Great shot!!
well captured scene and I like the tempered colors here
Very well captured. I think both gulls and the fish would have fitted in there!!
Wow! That's the coolest shot ever, I would have loved to witness the interaction! Well captured, Carin!
So let me get this straight - you chummed the beach with bait - started a bird riot - in order to get a good photo - then blamed it all on the poor pelican - Also not entirely true - but it’s a dog eat dog - but for you its bird eat bird world out there so a little tit for tat for fun :) Lots of drama captured here - Great shot -
"All the better to eat you with my dear". You had me going there, I had the gull walking up & down the Pelicans gullet :o) :o)
wow, death from above ! actually, i believe the pelican's sack is not very strong, but it certainly looks as though the gull is on the menu. well caught !
What a wildlife action shot! Love it.
superbe photo!!!!
Wonderful capture!
wonderful shot!!! great!! Flavia & Sandra
Love this! Beautiful work!
fantastic shot
Really impressive!!
Fantastic capture! the 'expression' on the gull is one of, 'I'm getting out of here. that pelican is just plain crazy!!!!!!' wonderful timing - you know you could have had everyone going with this one...
Great shot! Sometimes pelicans take it into their heads to eat whatever they can fit in their mouth. I've seen video of one trying to eat a person's head!
And the two of them racing along the beach screaming 'Mine! Mine!' Outstanding shot but who won?
Survival of the fittest! That wasn't very polite of the big bird. And here I thought that pelicans were a docile species, selectively fishing without interfering with the other waterfowl. In any event, a most timely and fortuitous capture in what looks like a veritable painting, Carin! Well done!
I think the gull thinks he was about to be swallowed, though! What a grand shot! Wildlife at its best. Wild! Excellent capture, and couldn't be better.
This is fantastic!! What an amazing action shot. I'm sitting here with my mouth as wide open as that pelican's! Wow. Wow!
