Description
I've been away for far too long. Having your landlord going through bankruptcy and the place you're renting in foreclosure tends to mess up your spare time just a little bit...
So, not that I have a (slight) breather, I decided some morale-boosting was in order, and what better way than balancing rocks in improbable ways? (I know, I have strange hobbies)
So, the light angle wasn't very good for this shot, but I like the angle on the rocks themselves.
As always with these, no glue, strings, or photoshop tricks were used (and no rocks were harmed) to make this, just gravity and friction. The largest rocks are around the size of a gallon of milk or so (or a couple of liters of the beverage of your choice, if you prefer...) and the smaller ones you can hold in one hand.

Fantastic rock art,Mike. Great to see another of these sculptures. You must have enormous patience to put these all together.
Very nice original sculpture!
I like your sculptures with rock! Great artwork..Original :)
Hehe - that's some serious balancing you've done there, my friend! You have a lot more patience than I do these days LOL! I absoluetely love the way you've topped the tallest sculpture with that skinny rock - for some reason that just makes the whole picture for me! Actually, I really like the lighting on this! Hope it all works out for you!
ROCK ON!!! David
Great shot. Love the rocks and hang in there.
Just where do those rocks come from? You don't seem to have them laying around the yard. Are you some sort of villain hiding in our midst? Wait....Nefarious Dr. O! Uh Oh.
good to see you again. good to see your stones too
I'm prepared to forgive you for your slight bending of the truth - all those rocks are hanging from sky hooks, aren't they...? Excellent hobby and a super shot - I really like the arrangement and the lighting.
I am very happy with your come back ! Good mind and splendid aarrangement !!!
Sorry to hear of your difficulties, but very happy to see you are back to your "strange" hobbies again--of which this is a particularly fine example.
Nice work! Somebody in our neighborhood seems to share your hobby, based on what's on their lawn. Me, I'm not, um, balanced enough for that sort of thing.
An unusual and visually striking capture!!! Actually I think the lighting is just right and highlights the shapes of your sculptures perfectly! Definitely a fave for me!!!
LOVE IT
Excellent balancing... I suppose life's like that too. Take care.
A beautiful creation !!! Happy Easter :) Hugs Karin :)
Wonderfully figurative!
Michael, the light here is fantastic! It's pinging off of the stones so perfectly...so yes, it was a good sacrifice of the overall lighting in the end. Loving the small obelisk in particular. (I'm sorry you've had to deal with the housing chaos. Can only hope this after being cast as little more than innocent bystander in someone else's financial woes, that maybe you got a break on rent during the foreclosure period. Seems only fair really.) And, hoping the stones didn't require an extra UHaul trailer all their own. :)
