Description
These are one of the many patterns that can develop, as part of a coral reef. Corals are marine organisms from the class Anthozoa and exist as small sea anemone-like polyps, typically in colonies of many identical individuals. The group includes the important reef builders that are found in tropical oceans, which secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton. Information from Wikipedia. outstanding macro
Ever since I was a child, I always wanted to bake cookies that looked like this! I'm weird like that. I love the details in this, the calcified anthozoa shapes, the almost primordial "feel" and the light picks out details wonderfully. This is great.

Perfect natural pattern
Nicely done Dana...I recall bringing a few fans of coral home from a trip to the Florida Keys 50 years ago...it wasn't protected then...I'd probably be arrested today for removing some from a reef! This is a very interesting photo.
