Description
Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (locally known as the Ballard Locks).
This is the control tower at the locks. They sit up there and open and close the valves that raise and lower the water level in the locks. They make announcements and direct traffic and generally keep everything moving in the right direction.
The control room sits atop a concrete stairwell and is glass on all four sides. The side you can see here faces East, and if you look closely you can see the Cascade Mountains in the top left-hand panes.
The reflection shows what's really there ... no fancy postwork or moving things around. Looking at each individual pane will give you a different story, but looking at this as a whole will show you the scene at the locks.
It's a fun place!

Reflections is like eyes behiund your head if you note them at the right time. but most people do not see them. Just like you got to get your eyes use to seeing things in the woods; if not you miss them. But you got this one for sure

What a brilliant picture! Have you read the novel Stand on Zanzibar by John Brunner, or even Jagged Orbit by the same guy? I ask because they're "collage novels" that were all the rage in science fiction back when they first hit the bookshelves. They were rather like this picture, each part telling a wholly different story, and none of it seemed related and yet there was a whole and coherent story...something imparted more through mood and recurring characters than any linear definition of the plot. I get the same feeling I got when I read those novels as I look at this picture. Each frame is a chapter, or block of chapters that reveal something of the whole, but they don't necessarily reveal their interconnections until you look at the whole thing. I love that! And I love this picture for triggering all of that wonderful stuff, especially since its such a darn good photo.
