Description
I know, I know...I just don't seem to be able to get away from any of my garden insect collections, but Summer brings such a big variety, I can't be stopped - they are easily the best subjects to photograph and you don't have to say 'smile', they are ever-ready...like some well known batteries !
This Orb Spider has his lunch already wrapped up like a cocoon, it probably was a Cicada, even Baby Orb gave a hand, learning the ropes or should I say, learning to spin a yarn.
If anyone is familiar with Australian Art, they will detect, that these coloured markings on the spider are actually very similar to some of our Aboriginal paintings from the Outback.

Tea for two ?...more like, tea, lunch & dinner for the whole of next week ! Way kool macro, the hairs look very sinister and those marking sure do look like Native painting...just less dots ! Nice work BB & ~Cheers~
fantastic image!! very interesting text!!
Wow! This is an Excellent shot of a beautiful Spider. The markings are magnificent! Great catch, Brigitte!
Beautiful shot.
SUPERB IMAGE!!! GREAT SHOT!!
Wonderful image and colors!
I have never thought much about young spiders learning how to make a web but I guess they do have to learn. A super capture and she does have great markings on her back, and I do see the likeness to the art. By the size of the catch they look as if they will have plenty to eat for a while.
They don't seem so creepy when seen in a photo. They are actually very beautiful. Great shot!
A stunning macro of one of my favourite family of creatures.
An excellent photo!
Marvelous capture!
Great shot I have some black and whites I took in Okinawa of Orbs and some other spiders. Lots of fun
mmmm... tastes like lobster...... see son, start with a double loop, slipping into a hogtail drop, spin and stretch, another double loop and then more spin and stretch until breakfast is ready... cool shot...
"Les monstres !", non ils ont faim, et faim de toi aussi...
WOW! Looks like somebody's having cicada for dinner! Great capture, and yeah...the things that live in gardens are quite easily the best photographic subjects around, especially when they're as well dressed as this little eight-legged beauty. I love the details and the grace of the spider in the foreground--its so symmetrical, all of his (her?) legs working in perfect synch to keep lunch all wrapped up tight (to prevent spoiling.) Wonderful work! Well seen! We don't have this particular species in the USA, but they have their cousins: they're impressive and a wee bit timid as far as spiders go.
Excellent!
Excellent and love your imagination:)
creepy and beautiful at the same time.. great shot.
Wunderbar - excellent, you are just fantastic
Great phot If I had taken such a snap like this, I think I would of used a very very long lens..
