Description
The Cape Mendocino Lighthouse stood proudly for many years, it's beacon showing the way home for sailors and fishermen. As the cliff below it eroded, it was dismantled and the structure relocated to Shelter Cove. The lens itself it housed at the Ferndale Fairgrounds, at the entrance. It wasn't easy getting a good shot, the housing had a lot of condensation inside. There is talk of having to relocate it once again; it needs better protection and that, of course means money. Time will tell where it ends up.

Oooooohh! Looks like a first order Fresnel. Very nice!
Nice shot of this lighthouse lens Marilyn, very well done as this looks great..
I always appreciate the light house and markers to guide my way back safely. I'm glad they saved it. Nice capture and a collection to keep. Aloha
I just love this pic..the quality of the glass surfaces and above all the grid composition. Smashing! Ooops, 'praps not a good word but you know what I mean!
wow look at that texture there
Wonderful capture!
Show me the way to go home, I'm tired and I wanna go to bed..... Cool capture of the cold-looking glass enclosure and framework, Maz! Looks like a stack of metal washers inside. I'm sure Pres Obama will gladly contribute some stimulus money in order to relocate this gem. Incidentally, the transport ship that took me overseas during the big war was named the Cape Mendocino.
