Description
The Mukilteo lighthouse was built in 1906. The lighthouse and its attendant buildings are all made of wood.
The lighthouse sports a stationary fourth order Fresnel lens, and there is a second fourth order lens on display in a glass case downstairs.
It's a cool place ... if you ever get a chance, go visit there!

Well it wouldn't be worth visiting if it didn't have a stationary fourth order Fresnel lens. I mean you're not anybody unless you have a stationary fourth order Fresnel lens. Just one question.......'What is a stationary fourth order Fresnel lens'!

I've never passed a lighthouse that I didn't explore. How interesting and that lens is really powerful, probably because of the heavy fogs in the area.

Must agree with Andrea. I have a fairly large collection of postcards that by coincidence range from about 1905 up into the 1930s. Why 1905 as a start point? Imagine that everybody has begun going on weekend excursions for fun BUT almost nobody has a personal camera yet. Most of the early postcards were based upon photos taken by local photographers, sent to Germany for printing either in B&W like your lighthouse here or in an early color format (hand colored and reproduced by the thousands). Soooo, you've done a remarkable job of postworking a modern scene into what it must have looked like when the lighthouse was new. Nicely done. Peaceful scene.

This rocks. I love the post work and the aged effect...a bit of sepia, a bit of black and white a tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny, exquisitely tiny tinge of color, or at least the implication of it. The details really stand out on this and the mood is superb. This is gorgeous work! It's going into my favorites!
