Description
It is Sunday morning, the first day of the delay in London. It is crisp, with what could be called clear skies, and I am waiting for the T-Mobile store to open at 10:00 to buy a SIM card.
The temperature is probably in the high 20s but the people are bundled up as if it were really cold.
This view is along New Oxford Street, Central London between Holburn and Tottenhan Court Road Stations of the Central Line.
I am enjoying the 'Big City' feel with double deck busses and London cabs.
These cabs are really amazing, they are all ugly looking but very effiecient with a big seating area in the back. The driver will not help with the luggage and will not take credit cards. They can practically turn on the dime and zip through traffic at the best possible speeds.

Wonderful street scene! I love the busses ... no doubt about where you are! The row of buildings catches my eye too. I could stand there for quite a while looking at the details!
Ah! Black Cab Drivers actually have to take a test.. (the name has slipped my mind) ..The mopeds with maps on the front you see zipping around, are cab drivers doing the test.. IF they fail.. They DO NOT get to drive a BLACK CAB.... No! They will not help with luggage, or take credit cards.. But, if you gave them half an address or fell into their cab drunk, slurring and belching... They WILL get you to your home! They can turn on a dime.. and they know EVERY short-cut in the book!!! You need to get around! Get a BLACK cab... NOT a Mini cab (car!) Lesson over.. from a Londoner! A week after you took this.. it was 2 foot deep in snow! Great picture! Rob

great shot, glad you had better luck with the weather than I did with my last two visits to London, it rained and rained and rained some more! The test the London cabbies have to pass it called 'the knowledge' to prove they know London like the back of thier hand, and that they can take you to any street you name, a kind of human sat-nav! LOL

The double deckers have changed since I was in London in the early 90s. Maybe the tour companies used the older ones for the tourists. Dana
